Fathima Afsal

Co-supervised by Dr. Kubow, I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Civil Engineering. Utilizing the simulated in vitro human gut model, I am studying the interaction and transfer of antimicrobial resistance genes from wastewater with the human gut microbiota and exploring the role played by human nutrition here. Having always been an enthusiast of interdisciplinary and applied sciences, my undergraduate has been in Biological sciences from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal. Apart from juggling to maintain a work-life balance, I love to travel, and if not in the lab, you would see me reading novels most of the time. I am also a part of graduate councils and enjoy taking part in volunteering activities. I am also crazy about fitness and love challenging myself by learning new skills.
